Well if you're referring to illegal drugs, thing are way different from the 70's.
If you get caught with an amount that can be considered as personal consumption you will be tried, and you must attend a rehab therapy as part of your parole. Also the Drug DA has different ways to interpret when an amount may be considered personal, or a trafficking amount, so not a good deal nowadays.
However I really don't recommend that as the law clearly states that even those around you could face incarceration until their un involvement is clearly confirmed by the Drug District Attorney.
Trust me on this one, as you must have guessed my line of work by now.

not strict at all about personal amounts but if you get caught selling your *** is grass
